Sam is just a kid from Akron. She attended Waynesburg University, where she majored in Chemistry and minored in Biology and Psychology. While there, she worked with Dr. Suyama to chemically synthesize a highly brominated marine natural product with antimicrobial properties. However, after many failed attempts, they turned to enzymes. This is where Sam first learned about the fascinating field of Biocatalysis. Now, as a graduate student in the Buller lab, she gets to have fun with enzymes all day. Outside of the lab, Sam spends her time exploring. Whether that be a new topic or place, she is always looking for the next adventure.
